2. Special Circumstances and Special Provision
The existence of Access Arrangements and the possibility of a pupil’s score being based on two out of three CEA papers should reduce the need for an adjustment to be made to a pupil’s score. Nevertheless schools operating the CEA are committed to covering instances where a child’s performance may have been affected by circumstances beyond his or her control (Special Circumstances) or where a child has been prevented from taking the CEA (Special Provision).
Guidance on Special Circumstances and Special Provision, which are referred to as Special Cases by some schools, along with the appropriate form are given below. These apply to the 2012/13 cycle only. Notes and the form for the 2013/14 cycle will be available here in the Autumn.
